OUR
STORY
Animals Aid and Rescue Trust (AART) was started by a group of animal lovers & enthusiasts headed by Mrs. Megha Mehra in 2018, to cater to the real underdogs of our hinterlands. While we are seeing a greater representation of animal rights advocacy centres in metro cities, there is a great dearth of the same in sub-urban and rural areas. AART is trying to fill this void. We are providing animal care in Murshidabad and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal.
More than 30 disabled animals have found a permanent home in our Cooch Behar shelter. In Berhampore, also we are running a shelter at Uttarpara where we provide treatment and shelter facility to sick animals. Once they are healed and healthy we release them in their natural habitat. Our work does not end at rescuing and treating animals, we also try to provide them with permanent loving homes. We encourage people to adopt stray and abandoned animals.
We believe humans cannot have holistic development if they leave animals behind. Animal Welfare is not only about being vigilant about cruelty against animals but also about ensuring a safe psychological and physical environment for them. To achieve this dream, we aspire to open more shelters across West Bengal and eventually throughout India, keeping our focus on the countryside.
